Shirley's Story
Shirley is from Enumclaw, Washington. Shirley's schools include Chilocco High School. I married right after I graduated from high school. I married in 1968 and my husband, Frank Rodarte, and we had nine children. He was the neighbor of Rosemary and Walter Pacheco who also attended Chilocco. He had to go onto kidney dialysis and lived with that for 5 years and he passed away in 2012. We started a construction business and our son's run it now, I still am involved but they do the majority of everything. Most of my time is spent around the lives of my children and 31 grandchildren. It is a joy!
I enjoyed attending the religious classes at school and starting forming a testimony of Christ at that time. I loved attending the Sunday meetings on campus. I now am a active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. When I met my husband he was a member and we raised our ...Expand for more
children in the church. Many of my children are attending church and I am so happy for that. That is what I seem to have done with most of my time after leaving the school.
I have attended a few reunions with my sister, Beverly Bruce and my husband and also with Jenny Johns and Annie Tishichy. It hurts a lot to see the school in the condition it is in. Especially since we took such good care of the buildings! Shining those floors! I know it is has been neglected and forgotten by time but when we return listening to the laughter and memories of those who have attended and bring their families back is the best! Our own personal stories and love for the school is just so neat to share. I have been so impressed with how so many have made a very successful life after graduating from the school.
