Sid's Story
Life
11/03
Hard to believe but I've been retired now for almost 8 years. 30 year business career in aerospace and telephone business, retiring with GTE/Verizon in 1996. Mostly in project management, systems analysis, systems & programming and management. Married to Dianne (Picou) for 37 years, we have 3 wonderful children (ages 36, 34, 32), Adam, Kelly and David respectfully. Two are married, Adam is single and owns his own computer consulting company. Kelly is middle child and only daughter, married to Jason Webster, CPA. David (and Dawn, his wife, both teachers) are the only ones to provide grandchildren (so far) which we spoil at every opportunity (Jeanne Marie and Sinjin, one of each). Dianne (a Director in health care business) continues to support us in the style to which we've grown accustomed while I add my retirement parachute to our earnings. We yearn for nothing but great annual vacations, seeing old friends and visits with our children/grandchildren. Life is good!
School
After high school, went to Southeastern Lousi...Expand for more
ana College in Hammond, La. where I met my wife in 1965, graduated in 1966. Many years later went to graduate school but never finished, 1977-78.
Favorite teachers from high school:
Ms. Donahue, Ms. Miceli, Mr. Roniger, Coach Salsiccia, Mr. Lacassagne, Ms. Schmidt.
People to avoid (but loved nevertheless)
Principal Alfred Firment (proud to say I never had to go to his office), Mrs. Bourgeois (I tried but just couldn't get physics), Mrs. Petersen (she always said I'd be good in math, she was wrong), substitute teacher Ms. Owens (I still have nightmares).
Workplace
After college, my first job was with Boeing in 1966 at Michoud, La. as an industrial engineer-schedule planner. Transferred to Texas with them and also worked for McDonnell Douglas there, mostly in project management. Took a job in California (with GTE) in 1971 and worked for them until I retired in 1996 (project management, systems analysis, systems & programming supervision, management). Went back briefly as a consultant in 1998, and retired for good six months later.
