Sindy's Story
After graduating Mayfield High School in 1984, I went to New Mexico State University to study physics. I was their first female major. After two years, I switched to archaeology. I met my husband, Christopher Hays, and we married in Jan. 1988.
After graduating in Dec. 1988, we moved to Columbia, MO for him to pursue a PhD in history at the University of Missouri. I got a job at the nuclear research reactor at the university where I worked on analyzing archaeological artifacts. It was a great combination of my physics and archaeology backgrounds.
After he graduated in 1996, we moved to St. Louis, MO and I got a job at Group Health Plan as a technical writer to develop their computer procedures. This morphed into being their webmaster in 199...Expand for more
7 where I developed the first websites for the company and their parent company.
I became an employee of the parent company, Coventry Health Care, and now the web team has grown to include 65 people managing 50+ website. I'm a Sr. Web Developer now and responsible for the team that manages the content on all of the sites.
Christopher taught for a few years and developed an interest in graphics and web. He pursued a degree in computer graphics and has developed an interest in 3D and animation. He now works at Coventry Health Care, too, as a Web Developer, but on a different team than me.
We don't have any children, just two Persian cats. We miss New Mexico very much and take our vacations there so that we can get some culture and decent food!
