Donna's Story

Born and raised in Victorville CA, moved out of state to Oregon at age 35. Have lived in Oregon ever since. Looking for classmates and old sweeties! I attended all Victorville schools; Victorville Elementary at age 5-7. Then moved and went to Irwin School, went from there into VVJH, and onto our famous Victor Valley Senior High. There were 3 girls that I distinctly remember that lived right next to Irwin school, they wre Becky Grett, her cousin Charlene, another class mate Lynn Melton, and Rosalie Padilla, she was my best friend. I guess the best way of remembering me, was being shy and being picked on. One year at VVJH I had credits to make up and had summer school. That wasn't a good year. They had pulled in other kids from another school, these kids were mean! I got stuck in the middle of a situation that rumors got around that i liked a boy, I think his name was Ron for which I didn't really like, don't think I even looked at him. The bad kids just stirred it up for me and his girl friend came after me. Of course a fight came into the picture, I wasn't a fighter; however I wasn't going to back down either. The fight turned out even. Nobody got hurt except pride. That whole summer had fights just about every day at school on the front lawn. Hated that Summer!!!! I was one of those late bloomers, didn't bloom potentially till I reached High School. Junior High was hard for me especially in some of the clothes I wore. I remeber having to change things up by taking the stupid bobby socks off before I got to school, my mother was very old fashioned and had a hard time of me growing up. I even rolled my skirts up to make them shorter, she would make me wear them past my knees, so all day I was having to adjust my skirt because it always kept falling down. I think if she were more open with me about things, I wouldn't of found myself pregnant! I really don't fault her, and I love her dearly. She's still alive; however in a nursing home. She in her younger years and at the same time I was going to school, she worked at the phone company across the street from the High School. She had put in about 17 yrs with that company. I believe it was; Continental Telephone Company at the time. She worked with people her age I knew real well. Ophelia Winters, now deceased Richard Cutter and Jack Jenkins, his son Mark was the one I dated briefly at our High School. He's the boy/man I've been trying to locate. I heard he married not happily and I was told I broke his heart, whether that is true that remains to be seen. I ended up with a person 4yrs older than me, pregnant and 6 yrs of hell with him. I had 3 beautiful children by him, i will never forsake them, they were my joy in life. Has anyone seen the movie with; Farah Fawcett-Majors...Expand for more
in the "Burning Bed" It was supposed to of been a true story depicted from someone in real life; I could of sworn it was a movie made about me. I got through it all just like she did and live a good life in Oregon. It's very beautiful here; yes it rains, but you get use to it and it's a good life here! It has all the seasons and you can go anywhere within a couple hours from Portland. The beaches of course are not like our beaches at home with lots of summer sun, but they do get a little; the summers are short. I always wanted to be a Veterinarian when I grew up, usually children will change their minds 5 or 6 times as they get older. It never happened, however no regrets. Since living in Oregon I have had the pleasure and the experience of working in Veterinarins office. I had to give it up due to carpal tunnel and my boss didn't have medical insurance so I had to leave, but was more than welcomed back at anytime. I'm an Entrapeneur (not sure if I spelled that right). I was always a good speller, but I think old age is sitting in a bit; don't get me wrong I don't feel old, I have the mind and heart of a 40 yr old. I have a fulltime job in a medical billing office of 8 yrs now. I have been a photographer for 15 yrs now. Always the struggling photographer, so I have had jobs in-between to support myself. I've always been one to get bored with jobs, not fired! Just bored, so I would leave just about all of them every 3yrs and then go to the next. I'm very creative and have a lot of; "Jack of All Trades" under my belt. But, realized about 5 yrs. ago, this ol' gal isn't getting any younger and really need that 401k and medical insurance. However; I still keep the photography going, and like to publish and create things. I've generated engagement, anniversary and wedding invitations for clients. I also do my own marketing for my photography, if I don't get enough coming in, I'll make more posters and find other cheap ways of getting the informaton out to the public. Right now I'm re-vamping my website "dawnafotos" a little plug there. I let it go for about a year, my mother had a stroke about 3 yrs ago and I have been very busy with her, so my photography has had to take a back seat because of it, but I wouldn't change anything! My mom means a great deal to me, and I'm the only one that makes sure she is taken care of right! No one else does. She's doing well and would like to keep it that way a while longer, I know she won't be with me forever, except later on forever in my heart. I hope everyone that I went to school with are doing well, and in good health. For now my story ends for another day. God Bless to Everyone! PS Pictures to follow as soon as I get a new one done of me, and I will also post my school picture.
