Clyde's Story
After I left the University of Florida I went to work for Proctor and Gamble then duPont. I ended up as Savannah River Site near Augusta, Ga, where I did construction work and now do environmental compliance things.
I have two children, a new wife, now five children, and currently twelve grandchildren. The first two live in Florida and Germany right now but it appears they will be swapping places with the German one coming to Georgia and the Florida one going to Germany. Another excuse to fly across the big pond. We spent two weeks there last November.
The second batch of children are all around here and visit often--usually for my wife's awesome cooking!! There is a minister, a nurse, and a business person in that group. The first two are a wife of a college professor and a military officer.
I like to play golf and sometimes hit the ball well (once). I still actually play a little basketball--oh well, so I just throw it at the basket anymore. One of the things I plan to d...Expand for more
o after retirement is to build my model railroad. I was a deprived child!
Gloria and I camp and travel quite a bit. We have a camper and some time-share space. I've also learned to shag--that's the South Carolina official dance. Pretty good since I was a non-dancer at TPHS.
I am finishing up on a PhD since I felt it was a good idea to reinvent myself several years ago when I saw the plant was not going to do much construction work (my previous field). That's how I got into the environmental business--another college degree in Environmenal Engineering.
Perhaps I will think of something brilliant to add later but I doubt it.
1/11/2013 Both Gloria and I are now retired. My son is now an Army Major (selected for promotion to LtC) and has a NATO command (Brunssum, Netherlands). My daughter and husband live in Georgia, where he is a college professor. Still working on getting the model railroad going, but am working a day or two a week at a golf course.
