Shirley's Story
Sure has been a looong time.... A few weeks ago I was playing on the computer and typed in Crescenta Valley High School class of 1970. The CV Alum website came up and took a look. How fun! All the photos and updates on how everyone was doing was GREAT! But was sad to see how many have gone... Have not kept up with anyone since leaving CV, which is also sad to say. In 1971, got married and moved off to Colorado. That was ages ago and have been a lot of places, met a lot of people and had a lot of fun since.... I am happily married (second husband), I have 2 terrific kids (son and daughter) and they both are married and doing GREAT. AND I'm a proud Grandma of 2 boys, 9 and 6.
Pat, my husband, and I are currently living in the panhandle of Florida. Out in the country, in the piney woods and loving it. We recently moved back to the states after living in St. Croix, Virgin Islands for 7 years. I met Pat while I was living in Kansas. We had mutual sailing friends, he needed a crew for a race, and the rest is history... Life with him has been adv...Expand for more
enturous. Pat is a Federal Veterinarian, so his job takes us hither and yon. We're very glad to be back in the states. Life on a little island sounds great, but it could be difficult at times. A lot could be said for the simple conveniences of life (Home Depot, fast food, fast internet dial up, driving on the right side of the road, etc...) And it's good to be close to our family as well.
My sister just got back from a quick trip to La Crescenta. She took a picture of my old street, Encinal Ave. Oh my gosh, how the trees have grown, and how short the street looks..... so different from my memories of growing up there. My old house looks pretty good still, but awfully small. Hard to imagine a family of 2 parents, 4 kids in such a small house with only 1 bathroom, and only a small wall heater that we all used to fight for. But you know, I had the best childhood a kid could ever have....
