Sonja's Story
Life
*I've lived in El Paso, Texas for the past 25 years.
*I'm a special education teacher.
*I volunteer with the Special Olympics.
*I have 9 cats.
*"Garfield" is my favorite cartoon character.
*I took my first vacation in 24 years last year and went to
Roanoke, Virginia!
*Orange is my favorite color.
*I've been looking for my 9th grade high school teacher, Mrs.
Lori Armstrong, to thank her for a wonderful job she's done!
She believed in me and got me to be a creative writer! Does
anyone know where she is? I could use help in finding her!
*I would like to publish a book of poetry one day.
*I've never been married and have no children.
*I've gone back to Huntsville between 1980-1994 and have never
bumped into any former classmates.
*Science Fiction & Horror films are my favorites!
*I work out at the local gym at least 3 times a week.
*I couldn't imagine doing ANYTHING other than teaching; it was
my true calling in life.
*I've always owned a truck or an SUV; never a car! :)
*I prefer laptops to PCs.
*I started taking my basic courses at El Paso Community
College.
*I was on the Dean's list while attending UTEP for most of my
university work.
*I am an advid fossil collector. I've been collecting fossils
from all over the world since 1985.
*The rarest fossil I own is a T-Rex tooth from Africa.
*I've earned over 3,000 points on the "Carnivores 2" computer
game! :)
*I would like to go back to school and earn a Ph.D. in special
education someday.
*I went to middle school in Germany before I attended
Huntsville Middle School.
*I was in the movie, "Urban Cowboy," as an extra. I was a
member of the rodeo audience. John Travolta and Debra Winger
were in that movie. It was filmed in Huntsville.
*Orange is my favorite color.
*I've also been looking for Mrs. Edington and Mr. Wendt, who
were my high-school math and history teache...Expand for more
rs, respectively.
*I used to live on 15th Street when I lived in Huntsville.
*My first job was at "Jack-In-The-Box" while in Huntsville. I
flipped burgers & waited on the customers. I forgot to put
meat patties in the buns on my first day of duty. I'll NEVER
forget that day. :( I was a senior in high-school.
*I had a crush on a student in high-school. I won't give out
his name but his initials are J.L. You figure that one out.
*My best friend was a girl named Thuy Dang. She was one year
ahead of me in high-school. I often wonder what ever became
of her.
*The best classes I ever took in high school were my 9th grade
English, Health, and 10th grade Typing classes.
*High-School years were NOT good years for me. I was the one
that was always being made fun of. I was a social introvert.
:(
*Teachers should be more compassionate with their students.
*This is a rewarding experience. I should have done this a
long time ago. :)
