Stacie's Story

Life wow...has it really been 10 years since I've seen most of you people? Well, I know everyone expected me to go off and be a doctor or some other brainy thing....and I did leave middletown to go to college and I did start off in pre-med...but hey...that didn't end up doing it for me...I was more interested in social issues and being creative and all that...anyway...long story short I graduated with a BA in Sociology [concentration-Criminology] and a BA in Theater and almost finished a Psych minor...while in college I was involved in student government and I even found time to letter in a varsity sport [Crew]....after college I moved back to San Francisco where I hooked up with Jess and Alicia again and decided to temp for a bit so I could start to pay off the student loans....first temp job ended up being offered a permanent position and 4 1/2 years later I'm still with that company...they moved out to Texas in 2001 and seeing as I'd never been to Texas I decided to go......well..Texas is no Cali...but I have met a LOT of fantastic people out here and I've been having a hell of a good time. College I left lake county for Oregon State University in the fall of 1994.....it was a great campus...very laid back..a bit more conservative than I was used to even back then....but it was a beautiful, charming place to spend a few years. I did the pre-med thing for about 1 1/2 years....I remember Organic Chem being the deciding factor...I got so bored trying to study it that I literally fell asleep in my book....I then took a Sociology class that changed my life.....Expand for more
..it really got me interested in a way that I wasn't with the hard sciences anymore. So I switched my major to pre-law.....I also had a Theater minor [because I didn't think it was practical to have it as a major]....after another year I finally realized that Theater is really where my passion lies...by this time I was most of the way done with my Sociology/Criminology major...so I decided to change my Theater Minor to a Major and just get both degrees......outside of my schoolwork I was keeping crazy busy..the first couple of years I was involved in student government...and I was recruited for the Women's Rowing Team my first week on campus...the coach practically got squished in an elevator door coming after me to ask if I'd come down for tryouts...little did she know..I'd already signed up :) I was on the OSU women's rowing team for 4 years and it had a profound effect on me. I also acted in and directed plays at the university theater and was the resident prop mistress for 3 of the years I was there. After my sophmore year I had to get a job so I started working part time here and there....at one point during my senior year I was working graveyard shifts at an assisted living facility...I don't even know how I survived that year...I know I was a bear to live with since I got very little sleep and was constantly stressed to the gills....but somehow I survived it all and graduated in the spring of 1999 with my 2 degrees...I stayed in town for the summer so I could perform in one last show at the theater and then in the Fall of 1999 I headed back to California.
