I went to Millsaps College on a football scholarship and started out majoring in Geology - a meathead/rockhound; the idea of being a paleontologist, working in a museum, and going on digs all over the world was intriguing to me. My junior year (after I had taken all of the available Geology courses) I fell in love with Margaret Atkinson, a theatre major, and changed my major to theatre so I could be with her all of the time. We are coming up on our 40th wedding anniversary in 2009 and I still want to be with her all the time. We went to graduate school in theatre at USM then moved back home to Jackson to be with family. I started using my degree in theatre (with an emphasis on lighting and set design) working in television, first 10 years at WJTV and then 27 years at ETV - where, because of the wonderful team I got to work with, I won three Emmys for set designs and was nominated for other Emmys as a director and a producer.
