Life In retrospect, I wish I had taken time to build closer relationships with some of you who were at Carson High School when I was there (1986 to 1989). However, I cannot change the past, so I'll proceed with what happened to me. Two months after I graduated, I came here to Tulsa, Oklahoma to attend Oral Roberts University. I started as a business major but switched to history after my first semester. ( I just could not see being able to finish college as a business major, and also, I totally love history.) My minor was French. I graduated from ORU on April 30, 1994. At that point, I was interested in teaching, but only at the junior college level or above. But I was also tired of being in school, so I decided to take some time off and work. In July, 1994, I was hired on at a Wal-Mart Supercenter currently being built, and the following month I started working there. A year later, I went back to ORU to get a master's degree in education, but that plan fell through. I had a meeting with my academic advisor in March 1996. He told me that because I had not passed two classes the previous semester, I would be on academic suspension the following school year.
