As you all know I did not graduate with the class of '65. Towards the end of my junior year in 1964 I was asked to leave school and immediately joined the U.S. Army. I subsequently got my GED and went on to Officer Candidate School, Vietnam, Flight Training, Vietnam again and then was assigned to a base in Georgia where I've been off and on ever since. I graduated from college in 1975 and went on to do some graduate work in 1980. During a break in active service I stayed in the National Guard and served as a police officer. I went back on active duty for Desert Storm and then stayed until my retirement in 1999. I was awarded the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Two Bronze Stars, Seven Air Medals, Army Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal; along with the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Master Aviator Badge and Airborne Badge.
