Stefanie's Story

Life I've moved quite a bit since high school. Joined the Navy, went to Scotland and met my husband of 19+ years now. We have 2 daughters and have been to South Carolina, Spain, Maine, NJ (for a thankfully brief year) and now here in Virginia Beach,Virginia. While in college, I took a trip to the Dominican Republic to help out at an orphanage sponsored by Orphanage Outreach. I spent a week there. We slept on bunks under individual mosquito nets in a fairly open makeshift building. We took navy showers (water on, water off, soap up, water back on, water off, shampoo, etc) with cold water. The poverty there was more than I've ever seen. It was definitely an interesting experience and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to help! ching Spanish in a high school in Suffolk. I never saw that one coming! It's an interesting experience especially teaching mostly 9th graders. I'm also apparently a glutton for punishment and have applied and been selected for a position as the IB Spanish teacher and the CAS coordinator. I'm looking forward to the challange. My youngest daughter had received a wish from the Make-a-wish foundation and was awarded a trip to Spain to see where she was born and to meet her godparents. We went to Barcelone, Rota/Jerez and Madrid. She really enjoyed herself and didn't want to leave, especially Rota. My oldest is now on her own and engaged to be married and my youngest is looking forward to starting high school next year. If you come to the Beach sometime in the near future, let me know.
