Life
Married for 34+ years to Nancy Hanna (class of '65). We have 1 daughter (Debbie) and 4 grandchildren - Ashlyn 19, Christopher 14, Bailey 11, and Toby 9. (a true gift from God!). We live in Elizabeth City, NC.
I have retired from the Maryland Fire & Rescue Institute in 2003 where I was the Manager of Field Operations. My responsibilities included operations of 6 regional sites from one end of the state to the other. I completed my Masters' Degree in Management and have a Bachelors' Degree in Business. After retiring from Maryland, i accepted a job with the Department of the Navy as Assistant Director for Fire & Emergency Services, the entire Navy's Fire Deparment. d to take a position in Norfolk within the Mid Atlantic. I am the Fire Chief of Mid Atlantic Fire & Emergency Services with fire stations from Cutler ME to North Carolina. My office is located in Norfolk, Va. We have 700 men & women in the department located on 27 sites. In addition to the people and equipment, I manage a $69M budget.
I am still an active member of Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company where I have served as Chief on three different occasions. I am past president of the Maryland State Firemen's Association, past president of Harford Co Fire & Emergency Services Association and past-president of Norrisville Vo. Fire Co.
We spend a lot of our leisure time at Ocean City and the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
