Stephanie's Story
Life
I left Phoenix the day after Graduation. Moved to Salt Lake for awhile, then Idaho for school, back to Phoenix for about 6 months, then to Wyoming for 6 months. I moved back to Salt Lake where I met my husband. Two months after we got married he left for basic training for the Air Force. After basic we spent the next 10 1/2 years stationed in Vegas where our 3 three boys were born. While there I worked a variety of jobs (florist, financial aid for a couple of trade schools, Preschool teacher). Our next stop was Hill AFB, Ut. where I worked as substitute teacher for the next three years. During that time my husband spent a year in Korea. Then on to Paradise (Hawaii) for 3 years. Again I was working in Education (teacher's aide in Special Ed classroom). We were in Hawaii when 9-11 happened. Talk about being cut off from the rest of the country!! No planes = no mail for awhile! We are now in Spokane, Wa, just bought a house(finally) and are getting ready to retire. At present I am managing the Florist shop on the base. making people's day when they get flowers. My oldest just graduated high school. Hard to believe we are getting that old! I try to visit family still in Phoenix only in the winter now. I admit it. the older I get- the more I hate the heat.
In 2008 I changed jobs again. I now work as a plebotomist at a Plasma Collection Center. Hard to believe since I hate needles! I used to go in to donate and then decided it was time for a change and applied. My grandmother had an auto-immune disease that curtailed alot of activities for her the last ten years of her life. This is my way of helping others with similiar problems. I have a number of people that use the medications made from plasma and it is amazing the difference it has made.
My middle son has graduated and my baby will be a sophomore this year. My oldest just spent 6 weeks in Hawaii again helping to open a new Target store. I didn't think he was coming back. He was back in his element.
It is hard to believe it has been almost 30 years since graduation and seeing all of you!
