Stephanie's Story
Hi!
Back in '63 when we moved to Richmond Beach, I transferred from Roosevelt HS (another football arch enemy!) as a sophomore. My favorite subjects were French V, German II, and art. Saying hi to kids in the halls was easy, but I didn't get to know many because I was pitifully shy back then. Compliments on my big smile and shiny hair made their way to me, but little did anyone know there was a personality lurking under the surface - hahaha! What an awkward age for a late bloomer! Jeanne Johnson befriended me, dragged me along to become a founding member of the Pacific NW's only official Beatles Fan Club, and the fun began! We saw a lot of outrageous concerts, stayed out of trouble, and did charity work for Peggy Dillman at the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Seattle.
After dropping out of the UW to take a job Downtown, I married a Roosevelt boy. We shared ten years together, and were blessed with the best daughter and son possible. That was a long time ago, and now my name is "Gramma...Expand for more
Pepsi" to three adorable, bright and funny grandchildren. (They paid me to say that.) They are all exceptional students and singers, with one granddaughter bringing an extra special joy to my heart when she plays her sax.
Having retired in '07, I sold my home and moved to Anchorage with my daughter's family and make several trips each year for extensive stays with my son's family in Lynnwood. Alaska is more beautiful than I ever imagined, but In the not too distant future, I'll move back to Washington, or perhaps a warmer climate. (Acharavi on north Corfu Island, Greece would be nice . . . white sandy beaches, warm salt water, kind people. Only the Ouzo is dangerous! But too far from the grandkiddles. > Sigh <)
If you made it this far in my story, we probably knew each other. Please send an email through classmates.com and I'll get back to you.
Ciao!
PS: The "now" photo was actually taken about 1985, my favorite family photo, and was a Mother's Day gift from my children.
