Stephanie's Story
Life
After raising three children in the Midwest and after they went off to college, there were many changes in my life: divorce, death of a parent, re-marriage, re-location and a return to the work force as an office manager for a mid level plastics manufacturing company. Ten years later, my husband and I were fortunate to be able to retire early (he from corporate management in a world-wide appliance and automotive manufacturing). We relocated two more times, the second and final time to a beautiful spot in central Florida. We love it here. No more midwest cold, gray, barren, windy days for me. My husband is a real estate investor and keeps very busy - even in a down market. My special joys are my children and their spouses and I also enjoy my pets, reading, visiting family and friends, planning trips, and appreciating every day in a warm, sunny, green, lovely and semi tropical environment.
My best friend would tell you I'm out going and friendly, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as quiet, shy, aloof.
If I won $100 million, I'd give a bunch of it to charities and investments, then spend the rest on my children, my husband and my friends and myself.
The high school teachers I would most like to see are Mr. Vaucher, my French teacher and Mr. Vandenploeg, my Latin teacher.

My hero(ine) is my maternal grandmother who was born in the late 1800's. She was strong, independent, and could have been an icon for the women's movement. In the 20's, finding herself the sole support of her husband and five sons, she sold high end ladies undergarments on the road traveling from city to city. Obviously, she was the only woman she ever encountered on her travels. It is said that "necessity is the mother of invention". She found her family in need and she filled that need by doing something no other woman (to her knowledge) had done. She was a veritable "steam engine" that said "I could" - and she did.
The wildest thing I ever did in school - was not having done one single wild thing! After graduation however, a group of friends and I decided to climb up to Mt. Baldy. What an adventure. We got stuck more than half way up and could neither go forwards or backwards; it was precarious, dangerous, and frightening...none of the four of us would admit to coming up with the harebrained idea. We attracted the attention of people at the top and assumed that a rescue party was forming - but at the last minute, cold, tired and emotionally drained, we were able to carve a niche and find our way back down.....to a dead battery on the car because the drive (who shall remain nameless, left the lights on!)
