Life
I can't believe it has been FORTY years since we graduated from high school! The years seem to have gone by so fast! I have lived in Pensacola for almost 29 years. I am a Project Manager for the Escambia County Engineering Department, where I oversee the design and construction of paving and drainage projects for the County's Capital Improvements Progam. I plan to retire in about 3 years and will move to the Asheville, NC area, where my oldest daughter lives with my 2 grandchildren. My grandaughter, Zoie, is 15 and a sophomore in high school and my grandson, Lucas, is 2 years old. My daughter, Katherine, is a labor & delivery RN and her husband is a 1st grade teacher and a plumber.
My younger daughter, Hillary, lives in Hoboken, NJ and is a retail manager and has a silk-screen T-shirt business. Her husband is a musician and has a sound mixing & recording business.
Shortly after high school I got married and had Katie. My mother died in 1971 and we moved to Datona Beach so my husband could finish college. He joined the Navy, as a pilot, a...Expand for more
nd we went from training in Pensacola, to a duty station in Hawaii, with a short stop in San Diego, where Hilly was born. After almost 4 years in Hawaii, we moved back to Pensacola. I stayed, he didn't.
I've had a good career based on "learning on the job". I started out as a draftsman and learned to design paving & drainage projects. As time has gone by, the work has evolved into managing projects from design through construction.
My heart is with my children and grandchildren. Almost every vacation is a trip to see them. The one exception was a 3 week driving trip to Alaska. A friend and I drove another friend's sports car across country from Pensacola to Bellingham, WA and boarded an Alaskan ferry boat to Juno and Valdez and Whittier, where we left the ferry and eventually made our way to Anchorage, and delivered the car to our friend. It was a great adventure.
I can't get away to come to Miami for the reunion, but hope that those who do, have a grand time. srholmes1 at gmail. com
I certainy would enjoy hearing from "old" classmates.
