Stephanie's Story
I married in 1973 to the love-of-my- life. We moved to the san Fernando Valley where we raised our four children. A stay-at-home mom,girl scout leader, PTA pres., room mom, team mom,soccer coach,headed meal ministry at church,care-giver for parents.
I'm "Grandma", to four grandchijdren, and have provided weekly childcare for the past eight years for grandkids, who are my "joy." I feel very blessed to have been such a big part of their lives.
The past three years have been quite the journey. My husband was diagnosed with cancer in nov.'06 and was in treatment for a year and lost his battle in jan.'08. My dad passed away two weeks after, and I became my m...Expand for more
om's care-giver until her passing five months after him. The losses would have been overwealming, had it not been for my faith in my Lord. I am not on this journey alone. My children and I are close, and I am blessed to have them all within an hour or so away.
I'm trying to make the adjustment to life without my husband of nearly thirty-five years, but as I'm finding out, he's never far away. We were robbed of the second half of our lives together, but the first half was so full, and that is where I find my comfort now. This is not how we planned to live out our lives together, but oh how we "loved" in the years we had together, and for that, I am blessed.
