Stephen's Story
My story..........hmm........this will be a work in progress for a while.
After I graduated from Highlands, I went to work at the Toy Box in Wonderland Mall. I also started attending San Antonio College (pre-engineering). I went on to work in a movie theater as an usher. I managed to sneak in a little fun.....learned to parachute and jumped at a small airfield in San Marcos. In my second year at SAC, I worked as a draftsman for a civil engineering firm in SA. At SAC, I had a less than distinguished GPA, but was enough to get into UT Austin.
So I then moved to Austin to attend UT where I began studying Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in mechanical systems. Completed this with a B.S. in a little over 2 years. Accepted a position at IBM in Austin and started graduate school in Mech. Engr. During this period, I also had some fun learning to snow ski at Winter Park, CO. I also played softball and soccer in IBM Intramural sports....Expand for more
After a while I completed an M.S. in Mech. Engr. with a concentration in automatic control systems. I then took the next year off (for "good behavior"). I just worked at IBM. Was a great year. I joined a band playing bass & rhythm guitar and singing background vocals....great fun. Then I went back to UT Austin and in '84 I completed an M.S. in Elec. Engr......still not enough punishment, so I continued at UT and complete a Ph.D. in Computer Engr in '89. In '92, I left IBM and started my own corporation. I have been working on and off in it for years. I have had numerous fun jobs and am fortunate to be able to travel to some fun places for work. I also love to visit places both inside and outside of the U.S.
I also enjoy cooking and traveling around the hill country around Austin. I have lived in Austin since '72 and love it! :-)
