Stephen's Story

Well, let's see. I worked for a local car dealer after high school and married Debra Johnston. Joined the Air Force in 72, stationed in Tucson working on jet fighters. I got divorced in 74, moved back to Iowa and joined the Air National Guard. I worked for a MG dealer in Burlington IA for a couple of years until I moved back to Mason City. Met my current wife and got married in 78. At that time I was working as a mechanic at the local Ford dealership. I got laid off in 80 so I went back to school. I got a computer science degree and worked for the local county government until 86 when we moved to Kingman AZ. My oldest son was born this year. In 88, we moved back to Mason City and my other son was born. Boy, I better quit moving. :-). Anyway, I was working for Unisys at the time in the software department when they decided to close the plant in Clear Lake, IA where I was working. So, 37 of the software group started a new busines called TeamQuest which develops software for analyzing c...Expand for more
omputers. I have been there ever since. The company has now grown world wide and we support all major computer platforms and operating systems. I have been pretty happy, no longer smoke or drink, but still have fun. Both of my sons are eagle scouts which kept me pretty busy for quite a few years. I am now a high school bowling coach in my spare time. I love working/helping kids. You know, they are all pretty good kids if you give them something to do and look forward to. Well, that's my life in a nutshell. I have a wonderful wife, and 2 great boys, 2 dogs, and 3 cats. I am also a "R.M.S. Titanic" nut. I went to the Titanic wreck site in 1986 with a group of fellow TIS members to watch the recovery of the "big piece". This was a wall section that is currently on display in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, the wall was not recovered while we were present, but was recovered a couple of years later. I give presentations concerning the Titanic around the state. I guess we all have our hobbies.

And this morning, the lake has started to ice over. Truly, Summer is gone! 😭
Yup. The cold finally did it!! Ice as far as I can see.
Idiots!!! They are just beyond the thin ice signs.
Another trusting idiot. Zoom in on this photo and you can see the thin ice sign directly in front of the truck. I guess they think the water currents are constant and will never make thin ice anywhere else.
This isn't Florida but it's home. I can always put more clothes on in the Winter but you can only take so many clothes off in the Summer.
This is a first for us! Right off our wall, a guy is setting up just ice house. I hope he catches some fish!
Check out the ice on the lawn and tree. The sun is shining and is burning off the fog and hopefully will melt the ice.
finally, they are leaving!!
