About Stephen Ortman
Stephen graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1974 with a degree in biology. Today, he lives with his artist wife and their two cats in San Antonio, Texas. He left the corporate world in July of 1999 to finish some long-standing writing projects and pursue his love of freelance writing.

the Cavalry Courtyard where he recounts stories about the heroes of the Battle of the Alamo and the Texan Revolution.
In November 2006, Bonechi Press in Florence, Italy published StephenÂs book, The Alamo. The book tells the history of the Alamo including the famous battle of 1836 where Texan defenders sacrifice themselves behind its walls as Santa AnnaÂs army overwhelms them. The book includes beautiful photography of the Alamo Shrine as it is today. The book is sold in the Alamo Gift Shop Museum. His next project will be a book about Las Vegas.
