Stephen's Story
Life
Hi Everybody. It's tough to tell everything that's happened since graduation from VHS in '69, but
I'll make it brief. After HS graduation that Fall '69 I went to college in Indiana but didn't like it, so I transfered to Carleton University in Canada the next year. I found a better engineering program at Rochester Institute of Technology and transferred there the year after. I moved back to Valhalla and got my A.S. in Electrical Engineering before moving back upstate. I returned to RIT and also took courses at Syracuse University and Eastman School of Music.
I worked for a rock powerhouse station in Rochester, WCMF 96.5, and then for several recording studios as an engineer. I moved in 1980 to help my parents relocate to Cape Cod and I worked in a recording studio there for over a year. Met some interesting recording artists there and engineered several records that got regional airpley in Boston. Jumping ahead in time, I got married in '83 to my wife, Sinikka who is Finnish. son Zach (born 86), and our youngest son Jon (born 89). I've been to Finland, Sweden, Canada, and Mexico over the years. Lived in NH and worked in Telecom for 10 years, then moved to Colorado in '91 where I work as a Software consultant -- mostly I'm "between gigs." My career path has been a "roller coaster" to say the least. I've been back to Valhalla a few times to visit friends and relatives. Living here in the West I miss the ocean and dream of moving to someplace back East between Maine and Virginia once all the kids leave the nest. Write to me and tell me your story, too. We are much different people then back in HS, hopefully for the better. The song that best describes living in these times is, "Different World" by Bucky Covington. It says alot about growing up in Valhalla in the 60's.
Update - 2007: I've had several surgeries for multiple retinal detachments in my right eye. While convelescing I had alot of time and learned acoustic guitar and wrote some country and pop songs. I hope one day to publish them.
