Steve's Story
My Life, huh?? Oh well, here goes........
My daughter Amy first told me about Classmates.com way back in 1997.
Back then the site was totally free & a lot more "clickable". I created a profile w/ the hope that more people would eventually sign on. When that did not happen I basically just moved on. Here it is almost 10 years later and while cleaning out the hard drive, I came across my old registration number, signed on, and was stunned to see so many new profiles that there are.
I would really enjoy re-connecting with any of you and getting caught up on our life's "trials and tribulations". LOLOL
I have also tried to email some of you here so please folks IF you get an classmates alert that I have sent you an email, instead of you paying for it, just write to me at the email address below.
Feel free to email me directly to Thumper420 at verizon dot net
Just write the address like you normally would by closing up the spaces and putting the correct characters where they need to go and send me your address to reply to.
It is amazing how our lives end up being NOT what we thought they would be when we are young. After MHS and FDU, I worked for an engineering firm for a couple of years & one day I realized I HATED wearing a tie and the 9 to 5 grind so after moving a couple of times (Buffalo NY area, Orange County area, etc.) I eventually found a "unionized" job where I could be a self-starter, see the world, & make a disgusting amount of money. LOLOL
Unfortunately for me, I was permanently injured in Nov, 1992 & my company "retired" me on a disability pension. Since then, life has basically been one of living alone "la...Expand for more
keside" here in the mountains of upstate NY with my Whippets & German Shepards.
When it gets cold & snowy, I become a "snowbird" and RV to the Florida Keys for the winter. I have 2 great kids who grown & gone now for almost 10 years. My son still lives in NJ and my daughter lives in the San Jose area of Cali.
Mom & Dad are still in SH and my younger brother Mike lives down the shore with his wife & 4 kids. Lauren, my younger sister, is also married & has 3 of her own. It is simply amazing how the time has flown by.
When we are young and in school, time can not go by fast enough in anticipation of the freedom & fun of the coming weekend but as we get older, to me, I can no longer keep track of where the "time" has gone. Oh, to be young again and to have my health back. LOLOL
Well, I guess that's it for now. I hope some of you will decipher the mail address in the paragraph above (had to do it that way or the website computer will delete it) and feel free to reach out to me directly.
Best wishes to all, Steve
P.s. My condolences go out once to the Jackson family if anyone knows where Tom, Laurie, or their parents are & if their still in the area with the loss of Paul, who as a lot of you know was my best friend in HS. I was blown away when my mom reached out to me in Florida after reading about his passing in The Item at the very young age of 42. She said that Paul was married and had kids?? And that he and Butch Beyer had become town police officers and Paul had been on the force for about 10 years before he was stricken with lymphoma. 42 IS just WAAAY too young folks. Makes me think I am living on "borrowed" time.
