Stephen's Story
Life
I graduated Snyder in 1958 after attending for one year I was previously at St. Peters Prep but that did not pan out. My family lived on Gates Ave jersey city near Barney's bar and grill My dad was in the steamship business but after mom passed away w e moved to Mountainside NJ I married in 1963 lived in East Orange for a while then moved to Manasquan where we raised 3 children I worked as an engineer for RCA Global Communications in NYC and also flew as aircrew in a tactical Navy Sub hunter group Due to corporate buyouts I became self employed after 22 years at RCA and operate a small heating and air conditioning business here I am writing a small book of all my memories here and in Jersey City and have been back to Snyder often last year, Boy has the city gotten smaller!!! Email me!!! Thanks Stephen

I had an unusual situation as I was a transfer student I wound up having two history teachers at the same time!!Jesse Jacobs and Sarah Rosen used to compare notes on their "brite" history student a person who flunked out of prep school renewed his efforts to succeed. Also I remembered Dr Rosenberg my math teacher . For an engineer as I worked all my life I never did well in math!!! Dr Rosenberg took time to help me! And I also got some help from m...Expand for more
y little friend DeeDee Butter who held my hand every day after school during some stressful times in my young life. I never forgot her!!!!
Military
I never thought a 50 ton aircraft could get off the ground!!! But the US Navy showed me otherwise!!I enlisted at Lakehurst NAS as a crewman on an anti submarine bomber The navy wanted me in flight school but the restrictions to me at that time precluded my acceptance but the Navy was where I wanted to be 8 years later and hundreds af flight hours later I sadly resigned from the service due to family obligations! I will never forget the long hours of duty and the sometimes uncomfortable conditions but everything has its better rewards! I have been a one man recruiting man trying to direct undecided youth to a better lifestyle Engines on fire and landing gear uncertain only put my faith in the comradery that existed then by my crew we were all in the same boat!!! Im not saying that these were normal situations as they were very rare maintenance was great and I did some of it! We all hated boot camp but there was not a dry eye in that camp when we graduated!!!! If anyone out there was in VS71 Anti Submarine Squadron at Lakehurst Please contact me Thanks Stephen PS I am on facebook too!!!!
