Stephen's Story
I have been in Alabama since I got out of the Army in 1971. I am married to a wonderful lady Amy and have a daughter Kim, two sons Stephen and Joey. I'm retired from BAE Systems here in Anniston where I was employed for 39 years. I'm really enjoying retirement by fishing, bowling and riding the open road on my Goldwing. Cross country trips are my favorites.
I was born and raised in Lawton, Okla. My senior year started out at Eisenhower High and ended up at Harrison High in Colorado Springs thanks to the military transferring my step father from Ft. Sill to Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs. Eisenhower claims me in the 68 year book but I graduated at Harrison High in the Springs.
I went directly into the Army before I was drafted. Got my draft notice in June (less than a month after graduating), while I was in basic training in Ft. Ord, California. After a short trip to Vietnam, 11months,26 days and 90 minutes
I returned to the States vowing never to fly again.

ower. Lee Ray Harris that was my running buddy and Cindy Youngblood my first real girlfriend. Years later I found out Lee Ray had been killed in a motorcycle accident in Texas. Cindy on the other hand I have looked everywhere for 35 years. Its like she never existed other than in pictures in our Eisenhower yearbook. She graduated in 1969 from there. We had an argument when I returned from Vietnam in 69 and I haven't saw her since. I was stationed in Alabama on my return from Nam. Got married here and been here every since. I love my wife dearly but I will always have a love for Cindy. I demanded that she would wait for me to return from Vietnam. I can see now that I was wrong, asking that from anyone at a time when we as a country were suffering so many loses over there. I hope that she's had a wonderful life and has a super husband with a yard full of grandkids. I would so love to see her and tell her that I'm so sorry for everything.
