Stephen's Story

Life My Pets The poodle is my daughter's dog and the golden retriever/chow mix just kind of lives with us. My cat, Dopie, is kind of stand-offish unless she decides it's time for some attention, but she is a source of amusement when she sits in the window watching the birds and chatters like a raccoon. My Job Very busy but always interesting. I write the emergency preparedness plans for incidents like major accidents and natural disasters for Wright-Patt. Our office is the point of contact for all emergency preparedness and we are responsible for training the disaster control group. We have a lot of contact with ...Expand for more
the base and unit commanders and work fairly closely with the police, fire and emergency medical folks. We also get to interact with other government agencies like FEMA, FBI, INS, Customs, and NRC. We are trained to the HAZMAT technician level and train all emergency responders in HAZMAT awareness. We are also the experts in Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Warfare Defense and train the military personnel for that contingency. Part of that includes attending a resfresher school every 3-5 years. One day of that class involves going into the live agent training chamber and playing with real nerve and blister agents.
