Steve's Story
Life
I've been retired from the Air Force for two years now and it's great. I don't miss the military life. I am at a loss as to why I don't miss it. My blood pressure has never been lower.
School
I regret not finishing my music degree.
College
I was a music major for the years I was in college. I spent 2 years at Kearney State and then transferred to SLU until 84, then I joined the Air Force where I went into the IT field?!?!
I had some good times at both schools. At Kearney, I mainly ran with a few people, Deb Adams, Missy Wolsman (last name spelling), Joe Beach, Mike Osterberg, and Bruce Boeckel.
At SLU, I ran with lots of folks, mostly in the music department. I had several friends, but like Kearney, I forgot lots of names...Expand for more
. One person who was one of my best friends was Mike Palermo. Another was John Merle. I saw Mike about 12 years ago on my way to Turkey. As life goes, both of us had changed. I did run across Bill Ware a few years ago in Birmingham, Alabama working at a music store. He hadn't changed a bit.
Workplace
I currently work as a composite technician for A-10s and really like the job. It's completely different from anything else I have ever done.
Military
I spent 21 years in the Air Force, but prior to that I spent another 5-1/2 years in the Army National Guard/Army Reserve. So for the majority of my adult life, I was in the military. Some of it was fun. The best thing about the military was all the great, cool places I got to travel to.
