Steve's Story

Greetings Everyone! Well, it all started in the small town of Paola, KS in 1956.....then this, that and the other thing happened, so after school..... Studied classical piano at Washburn Univ for a few semesters after High School. Did not graduate. Got married in 1980, moved to Kansas City where I have been working for the Kansas City Star since 1981. Got divorced in 1986; one son, Christopher (25 yrs old). He lives in Raytown, MO. Met my soul mate Donna Parker in 1987; married in 1989. We have two kids: Alexandra is 13 and Nicolas is 9. Both of our children are adopted from South Korea. We have lived in Lawrence the past 7 years. I make the commute to Kansas City everyday. Donna works as a pre-school teacher during the r...Expand for more
egular school year. She has the summers off which is great for the kids. We stay very busy with Nic's soccer and Alex's softball (I'm coaching her team; can't get enough of that sport). I play Jazz piano primarily these days. I get the 6-time-a-year gig at a local Lawrence bookstore/art gallery. Great fun and it earns a little lunch money. If I can get an hour of practice time in a night I feel like I'm doing good. I'm usually playing catch with Alex or kicking the soccer ball around with Nico, so the piano playing is put on the back burner. My parents are slowing down quite a bit, but still living in the same digs at 27th & Minnesota. That's it in a very small nutshell. Looking forward to seeing many of you. Steve
