Steve's Story

2008 update,, Greetings to fellow Spartans, friends, and curious others. I'll try to crunch the many many years into a few paragraphs. From Sierra HS, I narrowly missed the draft by joining the Air Force in late '69. In 1970, my first assignment George AFB Calif, as an F-4 Phantom Crew Chief. 1972, sent to the Vietnam Airwar and assignment at Korat RTAFB, Thailand, a very fast year. Honorable discharge in 73, returned to Whittier and went to college on the GI bill, also worked as an electrician in construction for two years. Married in August 1975, rejoined USAF and retrained into aircraft electronics, 1975 assignment to Mt Home AFB, Idaho. 1977, sent overseas to RAF Lakenheath England. 1980, ...Expand for more
returned to Idaho. 1988, moved to Sacramento Calif. 1990, assignment back to England then promptly ended up in Saudi Arabia for 6 months, and Desert Storm. Retired as a Master Sergeant with 22 years of honorable service in late 1992. I am well into my second career, working for the US Dept of Interior as a Master Field Technician, electronics and remote sensor systems, all around the Northwest. We have a home in Bend Oregon. Happily married with a wife for life (32 yrs in 2008, Susan is from Lakewood CA), we have 3 adult kids, and 4 wonderful grandchildren. Whittier,, in the 50's and 60's was a great starting point,, we moved away and lived happily ever after. Steve Casad, "Glad to be here".
