Steve's Story

Life My Spouse I met my wife, Georgeann, at Northwestern Bell in 1978, where we both worked. I have worked as a Business Software Developer my whole career after graduation from Drake University in 1984 with a BS in Computer Information Systems. I'm currently a couple of month into my 49th year in IT, including the time I was in the Business Coop program at WHS. I worked in IT Print and Console Operations up until 1984 when I left NWBell and went to work as a contractor at Iowa BCBS with EDS (Electronic Data Systems, which is no longer, was bought out by HP years ago now). I also worked 15 years at Sprint Communications as a Software Engineer IV, from Sept 11, 1989 to Sprint 2003, leading a team of 14 folks supporting 17 Business Invoice System applications. Left Sprint in 2003 and have been with HCSC (Health Care Services Corporation) which owns 5 of the BCSB Plans, including Texas and Illinois. The Office is in Richardson, TX. Our pets: Updated Aug 2021 - We currently have 4 dogs. All are rescues or adoptions. 'Zuzu' is a 12-year-old female black toy poodle who is diabetic and now totally blind but she gets around ok. 'Button' is a 12-year-old female Yorkie we rescued. She is also blind but gets around ok. 'Solomon' is an 8-year-old Moyen-size white male Poodle. That's a size between a miniature and standard. 'Casper' is a 16-year-old adopted white hound/poodle mix with thick hair and a beautiful tail. Other pets we've had. We have two miniature poodles -- Sandy Claws and Brandy. Update as of 2010 - Sandy Claws and Brandy have since passed away and we now ...Expand for more
have two black poodles - a miniature poodle female named 'Josette Jenee "Gigi"' - 6 years old - and a toy poodle male 'Samson Sebastian' "Sammy". We also have two Yorkshire Terriers -- Snicker's Rock Road Surprise ('Rocky') and Rosie. Update 2009 - Rosie passed away suddenly August 2009 from jaundice and auto-immune deficiency syndrome (not AIDS). My wife named our male Yorkie, Rocky, after Snickers a white toy poodle, who passed in Feb, 1996. We got Rocky a little over a year later. Sandy Claws just turned 17, Brandy is going to be 14 in January, Rocky was 4 on June 6th and Rosie was 1 on August 18. This was 2000. Update 2010 - As I mentioned, Sandy Claws has passed away, as well as Brandy and Rosie. Left are Rocky (14), Samson (10) and Gigi (6). Sandy Claws is my wife's dog exclusively. Brandy is timid, but ferocious as a watch dog, as I almost found out when coming home from work at 3:30 a.m. one morning and the dogs didn't hear me enter the house. Rocky likes to play and sass me, but is very timid around Rosie, who is very aggressive and runs the show, just like Snickers before her! My Job I have worked seven different places over the last 49 years. While attending St. Ambrose College and Drake University I worked in computer operations at two employers. After graduation from Drake University in 1984, with a degree in Computer Information Systems, I have been a Business Application Software Developer since 1984. Since I'm one of the 'old timers' I've mainly worked on large mainframe ('Big Iron') Legacy systems written in COBOL/CICS/DB2.
