I've been active with music projects since before leaving high school. I spent many years on the road doing sound with various show bands & a couple of name acts, (a short REO Speedwagon tour would be the biggest recognizable name, plus some time with Johnny Paycheck and Englebert Humperdin...Expand for more
k), but after a few years I was getting a little burned out.
After changing focus and getting a more "normal" job, I've been able to return to music on the weekends, where it is still enjoyable, and still a passion. The band I'm with now (Oracle) performs a lot for all sorts of functions, from weddings to concerts to nightclubs. I do sound, play trumpet, and sing with the band.
Working weekends with the band gives me an opportunity to catch up with past friends (I would never call them "old" friends), who come out to spend an evening partying and having fun, as well as meet lots of new friends!
I've gotten pretty nostalgic of late, and have enjoyed revisiting my old stomping grounds in Hyattsville and lamenting on all the changes that have taken place. Catching up with former classmates has been lots of fun as well, and have attended every Northwestern reunion since our 20th.
I currently work for a small air freight company near Dulles Airport as a dispatcher, customer service rep, company webmaster, and TSA security coordinator. I started with this company years ago as a part time driver, since I enjoy travel so much. I preferred the long distance work, so on any given week you migh find me running an aircraft part to Miami, FEMA computers to a disaster area in Maine, or communications equipment for the White house to Cleveland. Although I'm no longer on the road all the time, I still like to take an occasional weekend run when the band isn't playing, just to get the feel of the open road again.".
