Steve's Story

After graduating from Bear Creek, I attended the University of CO in Boulder the following fall. The only thing I enjoyed about C.U. was my part-time on-campus job of working for the University catering department which allowed me and fellow employees to attend all of the various events held around campus. I left C.U. after a couple of years and took a one year sabbatical to work, make a little extra cash and earn a private pilot license. I love to fly! I returned to school but this time enrolled at Metropolitan State University of Denver. A much better fit for me and I graduated from Metro in 1981. Shortly after that I was hired at Oppenheimer Funds, a mutual fund company located in Centennial, CO. The job offers a great variety of projects, challenges and I work with a fun team of quality people. 2017 will mark 34 years with the company which surprises me as I never imagined working at the same firm for that long. I have a grown son named Thomas who is a wonderful young man that I am very proud of and I have a grandson named Adrian who was born in July 2010. Adrian is a true joy and he keeps me very busy and energized. I love them both dearly. Our f...Expand for more
amily has remained in Colorado and we reside in a single family home in Centennial not too far from the Cherry Creek reservoir. We have two cats and a ferret. We enjoy many activities as a family including such things as travel (Disney World in Orlando is a favorite), museums, the zoo, camping, kayaking, rafting, bicycling, hiking and most sports. I myself enjoy photography, woodworking, electronics, home fix-up projects, reading and gardening. In 2016 I also became a beekeeper and we have two honeybee hives in our backyard. Our family attends and are members of Colorado Community Church which is an inter-denominational church located in Aurora. We have been attending this particular church since 2002 and enjoy it tremendously. I was saddened to read that the original Bear Creek school had a fire and was largely destroyed a number of years ago. I am glad it was rebuilt, but I have not taken an opportunity to drive over and take a look at it which I should probably do at some point. So that is an update on me.
