Life
Dear Friends,
This is like writing a message in a bottle and throwing it into the ocean waves. Who will read it?
My dad Don Nicholas was hired by Grant Jacobs to teach fourth grade in Hughson. That is how I wound up there in Mrs. Hoy's kindergarten class. My cousin's wife Carolyn Nicholas took over Grant Jacobs job and ran the Hughson Schools when Mr. Jacobs retired.
I moved to the Bay area when I was
fourteen. My dad got a job teaching in Marin County and I went to live with him. I got into the whole hippy deal. Drugs, rock and roll , you name it.
My life was shattered. My girlfriend and I were living together and she was pregnant. By a miracle I did not want to get an abortion. My son is 26 now, and I am very glad I did not go that way. I do not condemn those who have made that choice in the crises of life. My girlfriend and I decided to get married. We were living together and started going to church. was the right thing do do. Then we both believed that Jesus died for our sins. That he was buried and rose again and lives forever to help us.
And that he is God's son.
But we had so much garbage in our lives from all the drugs and wild living that we did that our marriage crashed after 17 years.
She divorced me. I know how painful that is. Especially to see your children go through the hell of it all. But God.. Has been so faithful to me. For the last 7 years I have been helping my now 88 year old Grandmother and living with her. She was a ship welder for over 27 years, a Rosie the Riveter. I have worked for the Post Office for about 19 years and really like my job. I am going to school to have another career when I retire. I have learned that Jesus has a plan for my life, and that his power and mercy are on me daily to reach His plan, the reason He created me.
None of us are an accident. We all were created for a very special and unique purpose, and special works.
