Steve's Story
Life
Working Primarily as a Computer Network Analyst in Indianapolis. I am married with three daughters (Cheyenne, Megan and Sierra).
In the late 80's I spent three years as an assistant golf professional. After leaving the assistant program, I continued to play as a professional on and off until 2003. I may get back to it now that the shoulder has healed.
In 1990 I started playing hockey again. In 1993, I became an instructor in an adult recreational/instructional league in Indianapolis. Many years later I am still instructing. I have also taken on the role of the head coach for the Circle City Sirens womens amateur hockey team.
In 1994, I started playing music again. I started playing guitar in a duo act, which eventually turned into a trio. The trio split in two with me playing along side both of the other members in separate efforts. The Duo "Focused Diversity" got quite popular and got to the point where we were playing 4-5 nights each week. The run stopped when a severe nose injury (see hockey) caused me to take a lot of time away.
In 2002, the members who had played the final show for Excalibur in 1982, got back together to play at the 20 year reunion. After not seeing each other in 20 years, we pulled off 13 songs. A couple months later we reformed and added a new singer from Chicago, and the band Rule 42 was born. The band played it's final show in 2005.
In 2004, I was reviewing music online for garagebands.com, and came across the band Solving For X, and their song "Crush". After the review I received an email from their bass player asking me to review the remainder of the CD "What P...Expand for more
lanet Are You?". During the discussion I realized they were also from Indianapolis and had used studio drummers for the CD. In September, I became their new drummer. The final show of Solving For X was played in June of 2005 at the Walleye Weekend Festival in FDL. The bass player and I have had a couple informal discussions about doing a second CD. Even though the band has not preformed in over 2 years, their music is some of the most heavily played at Pandora.com. Give a listen!!!!
Jeremy Bloomfield and I have hooked up in another band out of Chicago. The name is 20 Mark Helga. You can find the band on Facebook and MySpace. The band has a good following in the Chicago area, and recorded a 6 song EP titled "Something to Hold". The CD is available on iTunes. I played my last show with the band on March 20, 2010.
I am back to the acoustic duo concept which seems to be where I am most comfortable. The duo Less is More is Indianapolis based, but we have played in Chicago, We play smaller scale places like restaurants and wineries.
I started playing solo shows under the name Just Steve around the state of Indiana. I play solo acoustic arrangements of rock and pop music. I have played one show in Fond du Lac, but stay mostly within an 2 hour drive of Indianapolis. These shows have been pretty popular, as I am able to add 10 new songs to the mix each month. I perform anywhere from quieter art gallery shows, to chaotic college-town beer bar shows. My binder carries about 6-7 hours of music in it, that I rotate in and out depending on the location and my mood. Performing on stage is my happy place.
