Steve's Story
After high school, I attended Weber State, graduating in electronics. I worked in the electronics industry for a couple of years and hated it. One summer I took a job as a seasonal park ranger with Utah State Parks at Willard Bay and Pineview. I loved it, I didn't even mind the grunt work, cleaning restrooms and hauling garbage. Later that year I got on full time and made a career of it. I worked on Antelope Island, the main office(to much like an office job), Pineview(boat cop) and ended up at Fort Buenaventura in Ogden. I spent most of my career there. ...Expand for more
I retired in 2000 after 25 years. I was not happy when the state gave the park up. But the county appricated what I had done there and took it over. I have worked for a couple of parks departments since my retirement and have even gone back to the fort for the county. In the winter I work for Snowbasin as a snowcat operator.
I married Joanne Smart(Ogden High). Her father was Dr. Smart from the Zoology Department at Weber State. We have been married 40 years. We have two kids, a son Taylor and daugther Andrea. Taylor graduated from law school last year.
