Steve's Story
After graduation I decided that I wanted to go camping so I joined the good old USMC. Hey, it is as good a reason as any. Fortunately I was out by the time Vietnam started and by then my draft card then said "Women & Children First." I hired in at Ford as an electrician apprentice in 1965 and retired as an electrician leader in 2007 with 42 years of service. I usually enjoyed my job at Ford. They were very patient with me as I went through life breaking bones, tearing muscles and tendons, most of which was NOT work related. I think that it had something to do with the drinking, motor cycles and skydiving phases of my life. If I had known that I was going to live this long, believe me, I would have taken better care of myself. Ford put me on afternoons for awhile and I spent a good deal of time dating dancers and barmaids. I got married to #1 in 1968 and got out of it in 1978. We had adopted an infant boy from Catholic Social Services Agency in August of 73 when he was a month old. We were able to use the agency because she was Catholic and I was merely an Episcopalian. In the end I got full custody of my son while living with #1-1/2. Who would have tho...Expand for more
ught? I remember noticing that in the 70's girls REALLY lowered their standards and with a baby babe magnet, I used that to the best of my ability. All in all, I have usually managed to have more fun than human beings are generally allowed to have. I currently am happily married to #2 and have been for about a quarter of a century. She slowed me down a bit. We have 2 married children and 2 grandchildren and I enjoy them a lot. I have gotten into computers a bit and build or repair them mostly for family & friends and do quite a bit of Photoshop work restoring old photographs, again for family with the exception of the "D Day" museum down in the big easy. I have done some work for them. Living in the country is nice and we see deer in the yard nearly every day and have to be careful when we are walking around not to step in the turkey crap. Our grand daughter, now aged 5 lives in Brighton and we see her at least twice a week. Sadly we can only see the grandson about twice a year since they live in Orlando where my son Paul (HM1-USN) is currently stationed. He is retiring from the Navy in 2 years and HOPEFULLY will be moving back to MI with his boy & bride.
