Steven's Story
Steven Adair, Class of 1971. Moved to Minneapolis 3 weeks prior to graduation for work but still graduated.
Joined Army 1972 to 1975 with the 101st Airborne to jump out of planes for a living even though I had never been up in a plane in my life. Went to Moorhead State University 2 years, than U of M, Mpls 2 years. Ran out of money, but finally
went back to Moorhead State University to graduate in 1981 with a double major in Psychology and Community Health Education. Moved to Texas, than Wichita Kansas for 2 years became a Restaurant Manager for Denny's Restaurants.
Moved back to Minnesota, got married to my wonderful wife Nancy. Worked for Denny's for two more years. Decided
we needed more family time so I took a job in Aitkin County as a Social Worker. The wife was going to stay home and raise our 3 children. That lasted only a couple of months, as my wife was a supervisor at Prudential Insurance in Plymouth and I was a manager at Denny's before we moved to Aitkin to do the simple family life. wife went back to school to become a nurse. At graduation time, there were only part-time jobs up north
for nursing, so she took a job at the Veterans Hospital in St. Cloud. Like a good husband, I found a job in Wright County
as a Social Worker for 12 years. I than left Wright County for Health reasons and did Adult Foster Care at my home. I
also was a contract worker for Hennepin County at the same time doing paperwork at home on one of their computers
and going in once a week to get a 2 or 3 office boxes of paperwork that needed to be corrected. Now I just do the Adult Foster Care and my wife has one more year until she can retire from the VA hospital. 2 of our sons are married.
One son has given us two grand boys age 3 and 4. One son just had his first daughter. We could retire next year, but will most likely continue to do Adult Foster Care for the forseeable future. We are looking at vacation homes in the far
out lying areas of Las Vegas as they are cheap right now and we could pay cash to buy one. In 2012 that is where we are.
