Steven's Story
Steven is a scientist, educator, and author. A creative writing class at university sparked a desire to write. In recent years, he has written informative yet entertaining astronomy-related monthly articles for the local newspaper, a smattering of articles for astronomy-related magazines and now literary works that are an expression of his experiences.
As an avid sailor, Steven is comfortable being at the helm of sailing vessels ranging over the years from 27-foot cruisers to 89-foot racing yachts. Night sailing is preferred as it is a very rewarding experience sailing by the stars.
As an astronomer, after founding the Apache-Sitgreaves Research Center in 2010 in northern Arizona, three years after he designed and built a 36-inch diameter telescope, he was honored with an asteroid named after him, 152533 Aggas, by the astronomers at Mt. Le...Expand for more
mmon Observatory.
Steven is a degreed electrical engineer with additional studies in chemical, mechanical and astrophysics with 19 patents with his name on them, plus has co-authored three technical papers. As a Ham Radio Operator he earned a General Class license. Steven also holds a rank of First-Degree Black Belt in Karate and Green Belt in Shaolin Kung Fu. Much further back in time, he is former Eagle Scout.
This background in sailing, astronomy, and a flair for cooking culinary delights is the source of adventure for currently available books and new works in process. Good times, healthy eating, and fun rolled up together.
When not consulting at the observatory or writing, he is outdoors with his two golden retrievers, Hawking and Einstein, jumping the fence to the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest and enjoying hiking and exploring.
