Steven's Story

Life I'd have to say that I've always been high on life; for all it's ups and downs, I am in love with life and the living. The strongest forces in the universe have always been the strongest forces in my life. Throughout the very many years of my as-yet-incompleted life, I've added more and more areas of interest, not fewer and fewer. It is a great joy for me to see others maximize their own huge store of gifts and capabilities, and I've spent the greater part of my life in helping others to realize their own infinite resources. Life is an unending series of small moments with enormous potential for huge rewards and quantum personal growth, if we stop to notice each and every one, as they occur. Regardless of how many places I've been, how many things I've done, how much I've learned, it has all been but the tip of the iceburg; the rest is still to come, and I want to be there for it when it does. College THE MOST NOTABLE THING ABOUT MY COLLEGE YEARS IS THAT THEY WERE SO UNBELIEVABLY VARIED IN ALL RESPECTS.. IT WOULD BE VERY EASY TO WRITE AN ENTIRE BOOK ABOUT THOSE YEARS WITHOUT SO MUCH AS EVEN MENTIONING THE CLASSROOM ASPECT OF THEM. HAVING CARRIED A MORE-THAN-FULL-TIME LOAD OF CLASSES, WORKING THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE NUMBER OF WORK/STUDY HOURS EACH WEEK AND TRYING TO ESTABLISH MYSELF AS A CREDIBLE ADULT, I EVEN HAD TIME TO ...Expand for more
DEVELOP A FUTURE LIFE, WHICH IS VERY SELDOM THE CASE DURING OUR COLLEGE YEARS FOR THE MAJORITY OF US. I BELIEVE THAT THE KEY TO BEING ABLE TO PULL OFF THIS FEAT IS HAVING VERY LITTLE TIME TO GET INTO TROUBLE OR TO SPEND WONDERING WHAT TO DO NEXT! MY CLASSMATES WHO SEEMED TO NEVER HAVE TO WORK AT A THING SEEM TO BE THE ONES WHO REALLY GOT VERY LITTLE OUT OF THEIR UNDERGRADUATE YEARS. IN HINDSIGHT, I OFTEN WISH THAT I COULD HAVE HAD A BIT MORE TIME TO "GET INTO TROUBLE", BUT EVEN SO, I STILL MANAGED TO GET INTO SOME PRETTY TIGHT SPOTS NOW AND THEN. AFTER ALL, KIDS JUST NEED TO DEFINE THEIR LIMITS AND THEIR PARAMETERS. HOPEFULLY, THEY MANAGE TO DO THIS WITHOUT LOOSING A LIMB OR SOME OTHER PHYSICAL CAPACITY! DURING MY UNDERGRADUATE YEARS, I WAS SO FORTUNATE AS TO MEET SOME ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL PROFESSORS AND FRIENDS, SOME OF WHOM BECAME MY LIFETIME MENTORS, WHETHER THEY KNEW IT OR NOT. FOR THIS REASON, I AM SO VERY GLAD I REMAINED CONSCIOUS THROUGHOUT ALL MY YEARS THERE OR I MIGHT HAVE MISSED OUT ON SOME OF THE MOST WORTHWHILE PEOPLE AND INTELLIGENCES I WOULD EVER MEET. IT GIVES ME GREAT PAIN WHEN I THINK ABOUT THE DISDAIN AND LACK OF INTEREST THAT SOME YOUNG STUDENTS SEEM TO HAVE FROM THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. YOU MISS SOME EXCEEDINGLY WORTHWHILE OPPORTUNITIES IN THIS WAY; I AM VERY GLAD THAT I DIDN'T MISS OUT!
