Steffen Cauldor:

CLASS OF 1973
Crescent city, CA

Steffen's Story

Life So, where to start? Well, my web site is steven calder dot com (with no spaces) if you want to talk, my numbers are on it, or if your interested in SoCal Real Estate. I was in the class of 73 but I got burned out from drinking alcohol & chasing girls at the begining of my senior year and dropped out. Four days before I was supposed to graduate I got married (smart move). Now with a wife and child I started to get my act together. I went back to school and earned my GED in 1975, while working the shell gas station that once graced the corner of 9th & L. The Dean of Students, Mr. Burns, was the one person who seemed to believe there was something good in me and really helped me out with my GED. Thanks Mr Burns!!! During that same time period I went to work at McNamara and Peep lumber mill (some of you might remember it) where I worked until Oct 1975. I realized the end was coming for the lumber industry in our area and I had been looking for something new. Not finding anything of substance in Crescent City, with my limited education, I opted for the Air Force. I spent the next 22 years globe trotting on Uncle Sam's dime and really got to see the world. Somewhere during those 22 years I raised two wonderful children who are both career military people and doing quite well I might add. I also have four awesome grand children. The military, incase you don't know, requires constant, and for the most part very good, training. By the time I had been in the Air Force 15 years I had been thinking about my education, or lack thereof for some time, but had only taken a few college classes. One day I decided to stop by the education office and weigh my educational options/opportunities. Great news, because of the military training I'd had I only needed 2 classes for one associates degree and 5 classes for a second associates degree. This got me to thinking and attending classes, BA, MBA, the sky's the limit here! When I left the Air Force in June 97, I went to work for Sed...Expand for more
gwick County KS. as a social worker but it didn't take long to realize that was not for me! In April 99 I left Kansas and moved back to Crescent City CA, built a home on one acre of the land I inherited and sold a second acre. I went work part time for Wal Mart (Hey, I'm retired and don't need to work hard) becuase I was bored and wanted somethhing to do. Within a year they had me in their management training program (Oops, here are those 12-16 hour days again. I thought I got away from those when I left the Air Force!!!). I stayed with them for 3 years (moving more than when I was in the Air Force), then went to CSK (Kragen)Auto Parts as a manager while living in Yreka. In 2003 I trasnfered to the Lake Elsinore CA. CSK (between San Diego and L A). I decided to do something different, after meeting the new boss and realizing what an error I'd made this time. I looked up Real Estate liscening requirements for CA and took the classes. Currently I'm a happy camper living the good life as a realtor in a booming market. I've never been happier with a job as I can set my own schedule and work as hard as I like. That's the great part, the harder I work, the more $ I make!!! Unlike working a nine-to-five for someone else. Am I happy with my life thus far? Oh heck yes! I have a great career, an absolutly awesome family, I've accomplished, and done far more in my life already than I ever thought I would be capable of back in high school. I have traveled and seen the world with my family (voted most traveled at the 10 year class reunion) I still have my health, I can snow ski all day, run a 10k (6.2 miles) in well under an hour, play a great round of golf, for a hacker, and I am forever the optimist!!!! In case your wondering what happened to that crazy kid the cops were always chasing/looking for, I'm still here! I just do things within the confines of the law now. I still love my muscle cars, ride my Harley, and party when I can! Still having fun at 52, life has just begun.
