Steven's Story
Life
After graduating from Ingraham in 1974, I went to Shoreline CC and then transferred to the UW. After graduating in 1978 in accounting, I worked at Weyerhaeuser for a couple of years before returning to the UW to seek an MBA. I earned my MBA in 1982 and entered the doctoral program, graduating in 1990. I got a job teaching strategic management at Ball State University in 1990, moving to Indiana University at South Bend in 1991. I stayed there until 1998 and learned to hate Notre Dame football because their fans were so obnoxious. I went to Newman University in Wichita, KS to become the director of their MBA program, staying only a year because the university basically ran out of enough money to keep me. I then moved to Rock Hill, SC to teach at Winthrop University. I'm now Associate Dean for the College of Business Administration.

hom I met while at Shoreline CC. We had a son, Keith, in 1984 and another son, Erik, in 1989. Keith graduated with a degree in Political Science after ONLY 7 years (and hopes to get a job delivering pizza for Domino's). Erik graduate from the University of South Carolina in 2012 with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. He began a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering at the same school in 2013. Kris and I finally have an empty nest.
My favorite pastimes are playing basketball and hiking. I play in several basketball leagues in the area and it's my primary method of staying fit. Erik and I like to hike in the summers. This last summer we hiked a 225 mile portion of the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina and a 110 mile portion of the Pacific Crest Trail in California between Yosemite and Mt. Whitney. We plan to hike about 300 miles of the Appalachian Trail next summer.
