Steven's Story
Upon graduation from high school, I received a scholarship to Chile. I was there for three months with the Peace Corp. Upon my returned from South America, I started working at the Miami Smelter, first as a puncher, than a skimmer for copper. We went on strike, so I decided to return to Phoenix College with the GI Bill. Moved to Phoenix and roommate with my buddy George. To my surprise, Uncle Sam drafted me out of college and served two years in the Army with service of fifteen months in Vietnam. Upon my completion of my duty with the Army, I returned to Miami, got a job at the smelter, first as a puncher and than a skimmer (for copper). again. I also married Laura and we now have two successful boys....Expand for more
We've been divorced for over 16 years now. I married co-worker, Carole and this too ended in a divorce. Single now.
I worked at Phoenix Union High School District at Phoenix Union High School and Alhambra High School. District only hires for half a year up until one has worked for three years steady. That's when I decided to apply at the Peoria Unified School District and worked at Peoria High, Ironwood High and Centennial High. Worked in the district for over 25 years as a history teacher and the last part of my teaching was teaching Spanish full times, AP Spanish classes. Did some coaching in Cross Country and Wrestling and some Softball (girls). Gratifying career and now retired. Living in Phoenix.
