Steven's Story
After high school, I went to Washington University for 4 years. I quickly realized that I was an average "smart" kid at Wash U. I graduated with a biology degree hoping to go to medical school. I had a few interviews but I didn't get accepted. My grades just weren't quite high enough. I guess I should have picked an easier school (or studied more and partied less...nah).
After Wash U, I came to Texas and went to Texas A&M University. Because my father lived down here, I got accepted as a resident. In state tuition was unbelievably CHEAP at that time. So I got an electrical engineering degree since I didn't know what else I wanted to do. I had A LOT of fun here. I waited tables and worked as a DJ in a night club while I went to school. I really didn't like anything about electrical engineering, but I didn't want to quit since at that point I'd been going to college for about 6 years and everyone told me that's where a lot of job openings would be. I received my EE degree in 1988. But I was having so much fun that I decided not to leave. So I started working at a real job, met my wife and got married in 1991. We've been here in College Station ever since. I can't believe I've lived here for almost 26 years.
We owned a large Mexican Restaurant (over 100 employees) for about 6 years. It was very successful but it was a huge headache. We finally got out of that business in 2002. My wife is currently working at Texas A&M as the business manager at the medic...Expand for more
al science library and I have my own business designing commercial and residental on-site wastewater systems. Yes, I am a crapper mapper as I like to say. But it keeps me very busy. I've been doing this for about 5 years now. After owning our own business, I couldn't imagine working for someone else. Hopefully the work will keep coming. I guess as long as people keep living outside the city limits and keep using the bathroom, I'll have work.
We have four kids. Twin boys,
Travis and Trevor, that are 11, a daughter Jenna that is 13, and another daughter Skylar (actually our niece) that is 18. Life is good but very hectic. That's about it for now. We just do the normal family stuff which includes a lot of sports. That also keeps me really busy since I like to coach everything.
OK, there's my life story in a nutshell. I'd like to reconnect with old friends from high school so leave a note if you get a chance. My mom and sister still live in St. Louis so we get up there every now and then. It would be nice to see some old friends other than at the reunions! I'm looking forward to eating a lot of Pirrone's Pizza when I do get back! I hear they're about to open a new store near where my sister lives! How convenient.
Well, here is an update to my story. I am now divorced as of April 2010. But as far as divorces go, this was a very friendly, easy one. I am fortunate that I get to see my children often. And I still consider my ex-wife to be a good friend.
