Kathie's Story
Hard to believe the years have gone so quickly. Finally really retired. In 2019 I had to close the farm. I was having hip replacement and surgeon said that I shouldn't be working with the animals for at least a year. It was hard but I didn't realize how hard. I ended up getting MRSA and it took me til Oct 2020 to get rid of it plus 5 surgeries. As I was finally walking and driving, my husband had a stroke which affected his left side along with eating and swallowing. He is improving slowly. I am his caregiver.
I still would like to have animals, in fact on one of our main roads which I drive, they have some longhorns! My husband said no and so did my body but my brain is still saying, why not. Maybe some sheet or mohair or cashmere goats. Yes I am still I to doin...Expand for more
g fiber arts. Still like to do my fractals and topology too. In fact I have incorporated that into fiber with fractal dyed yarn and topology art.
I miss teaching math too. My fiber arts career has opened the creative side of my brain and I see how that can be used to connect high math and the arts. Did some of it with Escher and Picasso along with Mozart and other great composers when I taught.
Well that's enough for now. Had a great life so far, traveling with my husband when he was in the military, being a high school math teacher and fulfilling my goals, being a mother to a fantastic daughter, changing my career at 50 to be a breeder of llamas and alpacas and learning how to use their fiber in creative endeavors. Life is going into phase 6. Wonder what is coming!
