Steven's Story

I currently reside in the Black Hills of South Dakota near Mount Rushmore. Since an early age of 11, I was working some type of job and learning responsibility. Many years later, it became apparent how blessed I was and still am. Thanks to wonderful loving parents who provided unconditional love with so many opportunities, my journey has brought great reward. After years of schooling and piloting experience, I'm now with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a Pilot and Federal Investigator. I truly believe that my success should be measured not so much by the position I hold, but by all the obstacles I've had to overcome while trying to succeed. Learning was difficult for me in high school, I just could not seem to apply myself becasue of peer pressure. Once I discovered a love for flying airplanes, my desire to learn was greatly enhanced by practical application and determination. During my junior year in high school, I found myself skipping classes to go fly airplanes. By the time I graduated high school, I had my private pilot certificate in my wallet and was giving airplane rides to friends. My high school days were mostly spent trying to be excepted by others, however now looking back all I really needed to do was except myself and let my passion guide me. Years of flight instructing, flying corporate executives, and helping others succeed in aviation has been such a rewarding experience for me. My c...Expand for more
urrent career responsibilities are to ensure pilots and operators comply with the Federal Aviation Regulations. I conduct aviation accident investigations, promote aviation safety through various seminars/workshops, and issue a wide variety of waivers and authorizations. I also conduct air carrier surveillance, air agency certification, administer flight checks to pilots, and work with our regional attorneys on enforcement matters. Over the years, my experience has provided a wealth of advancement opportunities to excel into upper management and provide leadership. We all have different experiences, and it's those experiences that shape our view of the world and people we meet along the way. Living life to our fullest potential is truly the greatest gift any human heart will ever know. I'm in the process of building an exclusive VIP guest lodge which will be available to only friends and family members. This lodge is nestled on 10 acres and short distances from Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave, Custer State Park, Devil's Tower, and Badlands National Park. I'm currently single and enjoy the freedom that comes from being independent. Meeting many people from all parts of our country and around the world has been such a wonderful experience. If you happen to blaze a trail out to South Dakota, stop in and say hello. I plan to retire in 2028, age 68 after 32 years of government service.
