Steven's Story

Life MY LIFE IS AS FULLFILLING AS ONE COULD ASK FOR. I HAVE LOVED AND LOST, AND LOVED AGAIN, AND LOST AGAIN, AND NOW HAVE LOVED AND MARRIED FOR 23 YEARS TO A WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL, INTELLIGENT(THAT COULD BE QUESTIONED, SHE MARRIED ME) WOMEN. SHE COMPLETES ME, IT IS A VERY INTERESTING THOUGHT, BUT SHE DOES. I, MANY YEARS HER SENIOR, HAVE FOUND SUCH REWARD FOR THE YEARS OF STRUGGLE TO OBTAIN MY GOALS, AND MY, SHALL WE SAY JUST REWARDS. WE ENJOY OUR TASTY FRUITS FROM THE RACE HORSES, AND MARES AND FOALS THAT WE SELL AT THE SALES. I AM NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO RETIREMENT, IN THE HORSE BUSINESS THERE REALLY IS NO RETIREMENT, WE JUST START TO SMELL THAT WAY. I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS SINCE I WAS EIGHTEEN, AND I WILL BE SIXTY THIS YEAR, 2006. I STOPPED OFF IN DIFFERENT AREAS AT DIFFERENT TIMES TO TRY OTHER OCCUPATIONS, BUT I NEVER GOT RID OF THE HORSES. EVEN WHEN I HAD THE TELEVISION PROGRAMS AND PRODUCTION COMPANY, I WENT BACK TO THE HORSES. SOME OF US ARE JUST MEANT TO DO WHAT WE DO. I DO NOW ENJOY MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER MORE, WELL SHE'S JUST STARTED COLLEGE AND SHE WORKS, BOUGHT HER OWN NEW CAR, A SION, OR SCION, I DON'T KNOW SOME FAST SLOPING, TWO DOOR COUPE WITH ALL KINDS OF BELLS AND WHISTLES. I ALSO AM ENJOYING MY 13 YEAR OLD GRANDSON, EVERYONE SAYS HE LOOKS JUST LIKE ME. I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE, I HAVE A MUSTACHE, WHITE HAIR, POTBELLY, NEED A HEART TRANSPLANT, AND A GREAT DEAL OF WRINKLES. HE ON THE OTHER HAND IS TALL, RATHER CLEAN CUT LOOKING, YOU KNOW NO PIERCEINGS, TATOO'S, EYELINER, OR SPIKED HAIR, SOFT SPOKEN, AND JUST LOVES TO HELP HIS "POP POP". ENOUGH OF THE RAMBLINGS, I MUST ATTEND TO THE FARM CHORES, AT THIS STAGE OF MY LIFE, IT'S BUYING BREAKFAST FOR ALL THE PEOPLE ON THE FARM, AND STAYING OUT OF THEIR WAY, WHILE MY FAMILY AND EMPLOYEES GET THE JOB DONE. IF I DON'T MAKE IT TO THE NEXT REUNION, JUST TO LET YOU KNOW M...Expand for more
Y FRIENDS I MADE IN HIGH SCHOOL, GUYS AND GIRLS ALIKE, YOU ARE ALWAYS IN MY THOUGHTS WHEN I AM PONDERING THE EVENING AWAY.. College When I started college, I was 17, and no idea what I wanted to major in. I went to HJC for a couple of years, then went to Essex, then UMBC. It was the 60's, and life didn't have much direction. The first President I voted for was asked to step down. I took this as a sign as to was to come. And it did. War and stupidity took the country by storm. So I left the education system and went into the family business. It was lucrative and exciting. All though it did kill a couple of marriages, and endless relationships, my choice for me was the correct one. College is a great job if that's what your looking for. Me, I was looking for job that didn't feel like a job, and the little college I took was of some use. Basic courses helped in conversation on a somewhat intelligent level. The fluff courses, gave me great dinner conversation. Jully 7th, 2014 just 3 weeks to the 50th reunion, WHAT 50 years. and at 67, I'm not to sure how I made the last 20 years.. But I'm here and looking forward to the REUNION GET TOGETHER. I keep saying it's time to retire, but then again what would I do? The horse business keeps you going, the next 3 colts in the paddocks waiting to begin their careers, the mare we have in Chicago getting ready to run, my wife getting ready for her next horse show, and my jumper getting ready for the up and coming fall and winter MONEY shows, HITS, WELLINGTON, LEXINGTON, ATLANTA.... Oh let met put this in actual perspective---- I spend the money and we go to the shows, the winnings never catch up to the expense, but it is a great party, and it last for about 9 months... but that's my cross to bare or is that bear,, never get that right. Life goes on and I can't wait for the reunion........
