Steven's Story
Bonnie and I are thoroughly enjoying living in North Carolina. We especially don't miss all the snow and the cold weather in the Midwest.
Bonnie is working at a bankruptcy lawyer's office in Durham, and I retired in 2011 from the IT section at the NC Department of Agriculture. We now live in Apex, which is 15 miles SW of Raleigh. Our schnauzer Maggie died a couple years ago and we still miss her, but we are enjoying our new dog Piper, an 8-month old black Yorkiepoo.
After dating for 17 years, Bonnie and I got married on the beach at Emerald Isle NC on my Mom's birthday in 2012. Unfortunately Mom passed away last year at the age of 91. I was able to drive up and see her for about two hours before she passed away at Fulton Manor in Wauseon.
Bonnie and I enjoy seeing the grandchildren when we can in Dover DE and Athens OH. Bonnie does a lot of scrapbooking when she's not working, and I spend my days walking Piper and her brother Rocke who lives next door. I also spend a lot of time on eBay buying and selling baseball cards and Bowling Green football memorabilia.
I had a great time last December watching Bowling Green thrash #14 Northern Illinois in the MAC Championship at Ford Field in Detroit. It was their first championship since 1992. I will be up for the Indiana game at BG in September, which should be a great offensive game. ...Expand for more

In my spare time I enjoy reading crime fiction, taking Piper for walks and buying and selling sports collectibles on eBay and at collectible shows in the area.
Workplace
At the end of 2000 I left Ohio to move to North Carolina with my friend Bonnie. I had a great job as a network specialist at the Fulton County Health Center before I left. The people were really wonderful to work with there, but I was looking forward to warmer winters in NC.
When I got to North Carolina I got a job as a software engineer at Intellus Technologies in Raleigh. They specialized in installing PC inventory software, and the State of North Carolina was one of their biggest clients. I got to visit several of the state agencies during my seven months with the company. Unfortunately, the state cut back on their funding for the inventory project, so Intellus had to let me go at the end of August, 2000.
I applied for networking positions at several state agencies, and I got interviews with the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Transportation. Agriculture offered me the position of Backup LAN Administrator, which I gratefully accepted after being unemployed for two weeks. I've been there now for 3 1/2 years and have some great people to work with. I hope to work there until retirement age at 66 and then maybe do some consulting work.
