Steven's Story
I love my cameras. Sometimes it seems like that's all I live for. For nearly 50 years I've been looking through one kind or another. In the early years, they were motion picture and television cameras. The motion picture cameras were 16mm heavyweights by ARRIFLEX, Bell & Howell, Eclair, and CP-16. I freelanced motion pictures for Image & Sound Productions and shot news for our local CBS affiliate on film. All the while I was working full-time creating television industrials of various kinds for the Department of Defense, where I learned a lot about all of this image-creating business. I won awards in both formats.
I'm a veteran Navy Photographer and step daddy to a 4-legged critter named Beemer.
I met and captured him at the local shelter where I volunteer. Twice monthly I photograph the pets at Chesapeake Animal Services. I capture them to share with you in hopes you'll open your hearts and provide a fur-ever home to an unconditional love of your life.
When I'm not loving on him, I'm running ...Expand for more
around Virginia and North Carolina chasing after new venues for landscapes, star trails, the almost ever-present Milky Way, and whatever else I can come up with. That's my idea of a retiree lifestyle. I haven't given up on the professional side of things.
I'm still involved with the Virginia Professional Photographers Association (VPPA) an affiliate of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA). I hold a Fellow of Photography degree from VPPA and a Master of Photography degree from PPA. With VPPA, I served as Treasurer for several years and then as Governor of the Tidewater District for 3 more years - rolling off in November of 2021.
When I'm not shooting, I spend time on my Beemer, the two-wheeled type. I've become one of BMW's 100,000-mile club members. I'm active with the BMW Motorcycle Club of Hampton Roads, BMWMCHR, where I sit on the board. I travel hither and yon across the Commonwealth and beyond, in search of good lunchtime eateries and photo ops. My time off is still time with my camera.
