Steven's Story
College
After the mirth, fun and sorrow of my high school days, I retain a vague recollection of my undergrad days at the University of Oregon. I came out with a B.A. (no pun intended!) anyway, did a year of teacher training, had my neophyte experience at Sprague and Stayton High Schools, and developed an initial, if rudimentary, sense of direction - and headed northward. North to Alaska!
Floated around Alaska (literally - fishing, teaching, Ala...Expand for more
ska Marine Highway) for ten years, and then that got old. So I headed for the Old World.
Went back to Grad school in Paris at the ripe old age of 35, worked around, got interested in phonetics research, received my Doctoral degree. Much better sense of the place of the tongue in the mouth for the articulation of back vowels. Back in school now (Associate Professor at the Université de Paris IV -Sorbonne). Whoopee.
