Stevenn's Story

Hi, born in Brooklyn, I attended PS 190, PS 213, PS 222 (yes- we moved a few times!) Marine Park JHS James Madison HS., Sachem HS, Stony Brook University, Oneonta College... I was at Madison only as a sophmore '68-69; I have nice memories of that year as I started to make some friends toward the end of the year and learned to be more comfortable being myself (does that make sense?) However- my parents then dragged my brother and myself 60 miles out east to the very decidedly un-Brooklyn-like Holtsville, LI where I graduated from Sachem HS in 1971. Later on I attended State University Stony Brook and Oneonta State College, where I grdauated with a teaching degree. I have spent most of my life in the public sector helping people, first, as a teacher both on LI and in King George, Virginia, and later, in my current position as an executive with the Federal Government managing programs that help the poor, disabled, and elderly. I married in May of 1987. We lived first in Woodhaven Queens and then moved to Staten island. The marriage lasted almost 10 years. I have one, oh-so-very-very special daughter (Megan) who is now 29 with a BA from Boston University; she works as a curator for a NYC museum. I always had a creative side that I surpressed; as far back as 1971 I was teaching myself how to play guitar and writing my own songs. So this creative side of mine re-surfaced as a singer/songwriter in the Village in the 1980s (I have written more than 100 songs) and in ...Expand for more
1992 I performed at an outdoor concert in Columbia, Maryland. At that point the desire to act, an also long dormant feeling, began to re-emerge but had to be postponed due to the birth of my daughter and subsequent separation/divorce. Finding myself with the necessary time, I began taking acting lessons in 2003 and have begun to gain experience by appearing in small, independent films as well as a guest starring role in "Duder", the Internet sitcom. One of my films ("Happy Birthday") was named Best Short Film at the Cape May, NJ Film Festival and "Evaluation" recently won as Best Science Fiction film in the Staten Island Film Festival. (Feel free to do a search on Google for both my acting website and also a music website where I have posted demos of original folk-rock songs. ) Should anyone ever actually read this posting and want to say hi, that would be terrific. I would enjoy hearing from you! :😀Stevenn UPDATE: Since the original post above, I have appeared on stage in community theatre productions of "I Hate Hamlet" "the Odd Couple" "The Crucible" and in an off-Broadway production of "New Beginnings - Hard To Let Go". Most recently I was cast as Vernon Trout in the upcoming indie movie "By The Dashboard Light" (currently in pre-production). My acting and music websites can be located with an internet search. UPDATE July 2020 ...I married for the 2nd time two years ago to my long-time girlfriend...we now live in Manhattan ... hey, don’t be shy, Say hello! 😀
